james worthy tour ’87

This is the first tour poster that I worked on at SST Records. I was given the name of the tour and was asked to come up with a design. The Lakers had just won the NBA Championship and my roommate Vinnie (Paul Vincent) had a Worthy caricature shirt that he had just acquired. I xeroxed his shirt and used it as part of the poster. The basketball ended up fitting perfect as the "O" in fIREHOSE. The band member heads in circles were taken from a couple band promo photos taken by Naomi Petersen I think, and I I got the Worthy signature from the shirt also. Watt approved the art and I heard he ran into Worthy somewhere and had him sign his bass. —Craig Ibarra
