Our buddy Philo (from Torrance) had recently been asked to join the band SWA on guitar. SWA is Chuck Dukowski’s (Black Flag) band, in case you aren’t hip. Philo got our band No Comprende along with his Torrance buddies, Poor Kids on Glue on a bill with SWA at the Anti Club in North Hollywood. A band from East L.A. called Rash opened and pretty much stole the show! I still have the awesome hand-dubbed cassette I got from them that night. This was the first time playing a nightclub show for ¾ of our band. I recall using a fake I.D. to enter as I was only 20-years-old. I was used to it, as I attended many shows back then with a fake I.D. as most clubs were pretty lenient on that policy. I put this flyer together on my lunch break, while working at SST Records. I used some of their rubdown type and copy machine to reduce and enlarge the parts. I found the Tor Johnson image in a magazine called Film Threat that we would receive at SST. Vinnie photocopied these flyers while working at his mom’s PrintMasters shop in Long Beach. We got Rash’s info that night and attempted to get them to play a party in Harbor City not long after, but only two of three members showed.
